Zunheboto District celebrated the 78th Independence Day on 15 August 2024 at Public Ground, Zunheboto with Deputy Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, S. Toiho Yeptho as the Chief guest. On his arrival the Chief Guest hoisted the national flag, read out the Independence Day speech and took the Rashtriya Salute from 14 contingents.

The Chief Guest also gave away the district award to 21 persons and NGOs, and later inaugurated the exhibition stalls setup by various government agencies and Self-Help Groups.

Later in the evening, the STH visited the district hospital and ZTGBA visited the district jail. Tug of war (ward wise) and exhibition football match between DC staff and Sumi Hoho and prize distribution were the highlights of the programme. The celebration concluded with the beating of retreat by DEF Zunheboto.
