A state sports activity themed "Sports for votes" was conducted as part of a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme at St. John College, Dimapur, and Dimapur Government College on the 16th and 17th of August, 2024, and the 19th and 20th of August, 2024, respectively.

This initiative was organized by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner & District Election Office, Dimapur in collaboration with the Nagaland Sports Association.

Over 600 students from both the colleges actively participated in the event, which was aimed at promoting electoral awareness among young voters. The students competed in the EPIC (Electoral Participation and Inclusive Citizenship) tournament, engaging in various games such as futsal, tug of war, three-legged races, and sack races.

In addition to the sports activities, voter facilitation booths and EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) demonstration centres were set up to assist and educate the students about the voting process. The sports activities were led by Christine Imlikokla, President of the Nagaland Sports Association, ensuring the event was both competitive and informative.

ADC & SVEEP Nodal Officer, Dimapur, Zakabo V. Rotokha, NCS stated that the sports event generated importance of voter’s education and fostered a sense of civic responsibility among the students.
