After a daylong sunny day, sudden heavy down pour of rain in the afternoon in Chessore area claims one elderly man’s life on 22nd August 2024. The victim was a retired pipe fitter from Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Mukhe Yimkhiung a member of Watsan Committee. He was washed away by the Ningdangke stream after returning from his field due to heavy down pour of rain. Later, his body was recovered in the evening several hundred metres away from the spot.
Due to loss of life by natural disaster, the Chessore Village Council declared a traditional mourning day on 23rd August according to the traditions and practised of the people. The village council also request the concern authority to compensate the poor farmer who has lost his life by natural disaster leaving his family behind.
