MLAs of Tuensang Sadar I & Sadar II, namely, Toyang Changkong Chang and Kejong Chang, respectively, convened a meeting in the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang on June 2, 2020 to take stock of the preparedness level of the district with regard to the Corona pandemic. It was attended by Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Task Force, Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer and Eleutheros Christian Society.
The Deputy Commissioner briefed the legislators about the elaborate arrangements that have been put in place across the district by the DTF with support from all quarters including departments, civil society organizations, individuals, etc. He apprised the legislators that the district had already received returnees from both Green and Red zones and that the DTF had thus far handled the situation effectively and efficiently even after some cases of Chennai returnees, already in Tuensang Quarantine Centre, had been confirmed positive for corona virus. At the same time, he also exuded confidence that Tuensang district is well prepared to receive returnees who are expected to arrive Tuensang in huge numbers in the coming days. Superintendent of Police and Chief Medical Officer also shared their concerns during the meeting.
The two legislators expressed their satisfaction at the manner in which the district is preparing itself to take on the corona challenge. While thanking all the stakeholders for making it happen thus far, they also appealed to all concerned to continue putting in the good work so that we can collectively overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic.
The MLAs also extended financial assistance to various Committees and Departments engaged in this endeavour shown as under:
- Rs. 2,00,000 to District Task Force Rs. 1,00,000 each by both the MLAs
- Rs. 2,00,000 to the Fund Raising Committee for Quarantine Centres Rs. 1,00,000 each by both the MLAs
- Rs. 1,00,000 to frontline security personnel Rs. 50000 each by both the MLAs
- Rs. 1,00,000 to frontline medical/health workers Rs. 50000 each by both the MLAs
