Tuensang District was Crown as Champion of 23rd Inter District Football Championship Dr. T. Ao Trophy 2024 with Minister Housing and Mechanical Engineering, P. Bashangmongba Chang gracing the closing function as special guest on 27th September 2024 at Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground, Tuensang.
Speaking on the function he thanked the organizing committee and NFA for their initiative in organising such Tournament in the district. Minister stated that Dr. T. Ao Trophy hold a special place in the heart of every football enthusiast in Nagaland. Dr. T. Ao a legendary figure was not just the first Captain of Indian National Football team but also an embodiment of perseverance, leadership and humility. His journey from hills of Nagaland to the global stage and serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration to every young athlete and reminded us that football is not just a sports but a platform to empower, unites and upliftment of Communities. Chang also thanked the Chief Minister of Nagaland for his immense support in providing the Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground at Tuensang which stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment for the development of sports infrastructure in the state. He also encouraged the players to continue in striving for excellence with hard work, discipline, dedication and team work.
Other highlights of the function were greetings by Benei M Lamthui, MLA and General Secretary NFA, Short Speeches from Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Roko Angami, former international player and Director of Coaches NFA, OSD (Sports) Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Jubilee from Government Higher Secondary School, Tuensang and Vote of thanks was delivered by Yangdipi Sangtam, President TDFA. Invocation prayer was pronounced by Dr. Imsujungba Pastor SBL Tuensang.
