The Zukhumki Federation, in collaboration with the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission Wokha, District Administration, DHEW, Social Welfare under Mission Shakti (BBBP), organized the launch of the Adult Literacy Campaign in Chukitong Block under Wokha District on 29th April 2025 at Tsungiki Community Hall. The event aimed to promote literacy among adults, empowering communities through education and awareness.  

District Coordinator, DHEW, Dr. Wonjano E. Enny, provided an overview of Mission Shakti, elaborating on its aims and objectives. She spoke about various government schemes available to citizens and highlighted safety guidelines specifically designed for women. Her address underscored the importance of ensuring access to educational opportunities and resources for marginalized groups.  

Senior SDEO Raphael Zubonthung delivered a speech emphasizing the significance and benefits of the Adult Literacy Campaign. He highlighted how literacy can improve socio-economic conditions and enhance individual empowerment, encouraging widespread participation in the initiative.  

Short speeches were also delivered by officials from the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission, the Village Development Board (VDB) of Tsungiki, and Block Project Manager, Janthungbemo Ezung, each expressing their commitment to supporting the campaign and ensuring its successful implementation.  

President of Englan Range Women Livelihood, Thrift and Credit Cooperative Limited, Zuchobeni shared the success story of the adult literacy campaign in Englan Range, Wokha, showcasing how the initiative has positively impacted communities through skill development and financial inclusion.  

Representatives from the VDB and GBs of Tsungiki village assured their full support in facilitating the campaign’s progress and encouraged the villagers to actively participate, recognizing literacy as a key driver of social and economic advancement.  

The program commenced with a welcome address by CRP-EP Lochumlo, while Treasurer of Tsungiki VLO, Lochumlo Kikon, concluded the event with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all stakeholders for their contributions and commitment.  

The event was chaired by General Secretary of the Zukhumki Federation, Lucy Kikon, who provided insights into the campaign’s vision and the collaborative efforts required to make adult literacy accessible to all.  

The launch of the Adult Literacy Campaign marks an essential step towards fostering educational inclusivity and strengthening rural livelihoods through knowledge and empowerment.
