The 2nd Quarterly Nagional Lok Adalat 2025 conducted across the state by District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of Nagaland State Legal Services Authorities (NSLSA) disposed off 219 cases with a settlement amount of Rs. 2,38,99,111/- (Rupees two Crore, thirty-Eight lakhs, nifty nine thousand, one hundred eleven only/-). A total of 290 cases were taken up for settlement. Out of the disposed cases, 192 were at pre-litigation stage and 27 cases were under pending stage. The cases included mostly Bank loan recovery cases, Telephone bills, MACT and other consumer and civil cases.
NLA also popularly known as the 'People's Court' is an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) which is aimed at reducing court backlog, providing access to justice for marginalized communities, and ensuring that disputes are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
It may be mentioned that in the year 2024, National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) recognized Nagaland SLSA for achieving highest disposal percentage of pending cases in the 1st NLA, 2024 held on March 9. Also the performance of Nagaland SLSA in 2nd and 4th NLA showed highest improvement in disposal percentage.
Zunheboto DLSA conducted 2nd Quarterly NLA at District Court Complex Zunheboto. District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman Zunheboto DLSA Phuleto Yeptho, NJS was the presiding officer. Easter H Yepthomi and Inolito K Sumi were the conciliators. All together 03 pre litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 02 were disposed of with the total settlement amount of Rs. 10,38,219/-.
Phek DLSA conducted 2nd Quarterly National Lok Adalat today at SBI, Chozuba, Phek, Nagaland. The programme was chaired by Sekhotso Rokha Panel Lawyer, Phek DLSA while Mezivolu T Therieh, NJS, District & Session Judge cum Chairperson, Phek DLSA spoke on the purpose of conducting National Lok Adalat.
The National Lok Adalat was presided over by Chairperson, Phek DLSA with Vethothi Vero, Retainer Lawyer and Sekhotso Rokha, Panel Lawyer, as conciliator. Twenty four matters of Pre-litigation bank recovery cases of SBI (Chozuba) and NStCB (Phek, Pfustero and Chozuba) respectively were taken up and disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs. 26,04,401/-.
Kohima DLSA conducted the 2nd quarterly National Lok Adalat for the year 2025 at District court complex. Duvelu Vero NJS, Principal District and sessions Judge & Chairperson, Kohima DLSA was the presiding officer and the Panel Lawyers, Kohima DLSA as conciliators. Total number of 12 bank recovery cases, 13 Telephone bill recovery cases & 9 MS case was put up before the Lok Adalat whereby 13 Telephone bill recovery case, 3 MS and 19 Bank recovery cases was taken up and settled. The total outstanding amount of ₹ 2,23,69,327 /- was settled with ₹ 23,04,002 through National Lok Adalat. Altogether 10 Banks and 2 telephone office participated in the Lok Adalat.
Kiphire DLSA conducted its 2nd Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Kiphire. It was presided by Holika Sukhalu, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary Kiphire DLSA. SBI Kiphire branch and Co-operative Bank participated. The session took up 10 bank Loan recovery cases and settled 8 bank loan cases with a settlement amount of Rs. 5,70,370 (five lakhs seventy thousand three seventy)
Longleng DLSA held its 2nd quarterly National Lok Adalat at District court with the SBI Longleng. Total 4(four) cases of bank loan recovery were taken up and disposed off with the settlement amount of rupees 84,157 (Eighty Four Thousand One Hundred Fifty Seven). Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, Longleng DLSA Kumdilong Kessen (NJS) presiding officer briefed the gathering about Lok Adalat. Panel Lawyers P Monyei Phom and Panglang Y Phom were the conciliators. PLVs Asangpongjei, Yingli and Hentok participated. 04 cases of bank loan recovery was taken up and disposed off with a settlement amount of ₹84,157/-.
Mokokchung DLSA conducted its 2nd Lok Adalat at District Court chaired by Julian Sithlhou, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary Mokokchung DLSA. 11 cases of bank Loan recovery was taken up and disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs. 9,86,735 (Nine lakhs Eighty six thousand seven hundred thirty five).
Peren District Legal Services conducted the National Lok Adalat at Jalukie Town. The event was presided over by CJM cum Secretary, Peren DLSA, Atoka Achumi, NJS as the Presiding Officer, with Asungbe, Inchang Hiekha, Kidungyi Putlang, and Italang Ramlia serving as conciliators, assisted by PLV Santhuilakbo. A total of four pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and successfully disposed of, with a settlement amount of Rs. 9,76,000/-.
Mon District Legal Services Authority conducted 2nd National Lok Adalat at District Court Mon.The presiding officer was Nokshei Kano, NJS District & Sessions Judge Cum Chairman Mon DLSA and Wokono Yhoshii Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary Mon DLSA and Panels lawyers Angun Konyak, N Mannon, M Moba and Henlem P were the conciliators, 5 pre-litigation and 17 pending trial Bank recovery cases were taken up, 1 pre- litigation and 2 pending trial bank recovery cases with disposed off with the settlement amount of Rs 8,39,481/-( Rupees Eight lakhs thirty nine thousand four hundred eighty one) only.
Tuensang DLSA conducted 2nd Quarterly National Lok Adalat at SBI main branch Tuensang. The National Lok Adalat was presided by Principal District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman Tuensang DLSA, Somet Chumden Chang, NJS, and Retainer Lawyer Tuensang DLSA Amtimangyang Chang as the conciliators. All together 10 bank recovery cases were taken up and 7 bank cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs. 14,973,46/-( Fourteen Lakh nine hundred seventy three thousand forty six.) only.
Wokha DLSA conducted 2nd National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Wokha. Seyielenuo Mezhu, District & Sessions Judge /Chairperson Wokha DLSA was the presiding officer. Panel Lawyers Shanchobeni P Lotha and Longtsubeni Humtsoe were conciliators. 6 Pre-Litigation Bank recovery cases were taken up and disposed off. The Total settlement amount is Rs 4,32,500/- ( Four Lakhs thirty two thousand five hundred ) only.
Dimapur District Legal Services Authority conducted 2nd National Lok Adalat at Dimapur District Court premises. N.Longshithung Ezung, NJS Chairman, Dimapur DLSA gave an introduction and Atoka Achumi, NJS, CJM-cum-Secretary, DDLSA, highlighted about the purpose of Lok Adalat. All panel Lawyers of the Dimapur District Legal Services Authority were the conciliators.
All together 133 pre-litigation cases were taken up, out of which 93 was disposed off and 22 pending trial cases was disposed. The total settlement amount is Rs. 12565900/- (One Crore twenty five lakhs sixty five thousand nine hundred) only.
