The Central Naga Students' Association (CNSA) commenced its Day 1 on 5th June 2025 at IMC Hall Dimapur. The programme was chaired by Lanutoshi Aier, President of AKM and the programme was graced by MLA & Advisor, Labour, Employment & Skill Development and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer as the Special Guest.
In his keynote address, Moatoshi Longkumer praised CNSA for its efforts in uniting students from diverse communities and underscored the pivotal role of youth in shaping the future of Nagaland. He identified four major challenges confronting the youth today: Challenge of Limited Opportunities, Challenge of Identity and Voice, Challenge of Addiction and Mental Health, and Challenge of Corruption and Frustration.
Addressing the issue of limited opportunities, Longkumer noted that many educated youth leave the state in search of jobs or higher education due to the lack of local infrastructure and employment. He encouraged the students to build opportunities rather than to wait for them and asserted to start small, start local, but start strong.
On the challenge of identity, he stressed the importance of being rooted in cultural heritage while actively participating in global narratives. “Your culture is not your weakness but your strength. The world doesn’t need you to become someone else—it needs you to become fully and proudly who you already are”, he said.
Longkumer also expressed deep concern over rising cases of substance abuse and mental health struggles among youth. He called for a more compassionate society that listens, supports, and heals rather than judges. On corruption, he challenged the younger generation to reject corrupt practices and instead lead with integrity, education, and courage.
Concluding his speech, Longkumer motivated the students to rise above obstacles and believe in their potential to become future leaders, scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, and change-makers of the state.
A brief history of CNSA was delivered by Limaakum Jamir, Administrator of Kohima Law College, giving attendees the insights into the association’s journey and objectives. Er. Mhondamo Ovung, Chairman of Lotha Hoho, delivered the greetings.
The event began with an invocation by Samuel Achumi, Promoter, Department of Mission & Evangelism (DOME), WSBAK and a warm welcome note from S. Bendang Aier, Convenor of the Organising Committee. The event also included a report presentation by Anoka H. Zhimo, General Secretary of CNSA and a special number by Atto Achumi.
