Pursuant to the ‘Advisory for the Protection and Rehabilitation of Impoverished, Uneducated Children, Women and Differently-abled Individuals  engaged in Begging’ issued by the National Human Rights Commission vide F. No. R-17/14/2024-PRPP (RU-3) dated 5th July, 2024, the Department of School Education, Nagaland has appealed to the members of NGOs, Municipal/Town/Village Councils, Churches, Student Unions and the General Public to report details of the following category of Children to the Child Help Line 1098so that the such children could be enrolled in the nearest Government Schools.

  1. Out of School Children (Children who are not enrolled in any school or dropped out at any stage before completing Elementary Education) in the age group of 6-14 years, including those involved in begging.
  2. Children in the age group of 3 – 6 whose parents are involved in begging and not enrolled in Pre-School/ Anganwadi/Balvatika.

All DEOs/Sr. SDEOs/SDEOs are directed to coordinate with concerned District Child Protection Units and Child Welfare Committees as and when such cases are brought to them for admission and ensure that those Children are enrolled in the nearby Government Schools as per the provisions of RTE Act, 2009.
