The first edition of the State-Level Tribal Bamboo Cutting Competition and Tribal Banana Stem Cutting Competition, organized by the Department of Tribal Affairs, marked a vibrant celebration of indigenous traditions on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh. The event was held as part of the ongoing Hornbill Festival at NSF Solidarity Park, Kohima, on 2nd December 2025. The competition was sponsored by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.

A total of 34 contestants representing 17 tribes participated with great enthusiasm. In the Bamboo Cutting Competition, the Zeliang tribe emerged as the champion, while the Lotha tribe and Pochury tribe secured second and third places, respectively. While in Banana Stem Cutting Competition, the Chang tribe emerged as the winner, followed by the Kuki tribe and Angami tribe, who secured second and third positions, respectively.
