An Advent Christmas Programme was held at the Office of the Commissioner, Nagaland, Kohima on December 16th 2025 at the Commissioner’s Office premises.

Delivering Christmas greetings, Joint Commissioner, Nagaland, Nokchasashi said that Christmas is one of the most memorable times of the year and emphasised that the manner in which the season is observed is more important than the celebrations themselves. He stated that Advent is not merely a countdown to Christmas but a time for government employees to pause, look inward, and reflect on their lives and responsibilities.

He appreciated the hard work, dedication, and sincerity of officers and staff in serving the public and congratulated them for their collective efforts in ensuring the smooth functioning of the office. Recalling how children once looked forward to new clothes and sweets during Christmas, he said that as adults, the season calls for deeper reflection, disciplined living, and Christian values. He further thanked employees for their commitment, including staying back late to complete official work, and remarked that serving the people is equivalent to serving God. Referring to the Commissioner’s Office as the administrative head and a mirror for others, he urged all employees to continue striving for excellence.

Earlier, Er. Sungtiba Amer, Assistant Chief Engineer, CAWD, extended a warm welcome to all present and thanked the programme committee for organising the event. He highlighted the significance of the Advent season as a period of waiting and preparation to welcome the birth of Jesus Christ, adding that God’s love continues to shine even in moments of darkness. He said Christmas is not merely about decorations and celebrations, but about compassion, relationships, and unity, bringing colleagues and communities together in peace and goodwill.

He added that the programme reflected the collective spirit of various departments coming together and reminded that the true meaning of Christmas lies in sharing love, kindness, and support, especially with those in need. He called upon everyone to live out the values of the season through their actions and wished all officers and staff a blessed Christmas filled with peace and joy.

Speaking on the occasion, Tsutsowe Kupa, NCS, Under Secretary, Border Affairs & SEC, said that despite differences in faith and belief systems, shared values such as morality, responsibility, and purpose remain central to public service. He encouraged the gathering to use the season for introspection and re-orientation and expressed hope that such interactions and fellowship would continue.

The programme was chaired by Yanthungbemo Kikon, AC, while the invocation was pronounced by Nuklabenla Jamir. A special song was presented by staff members from CAWD and Border Affairs, while the Commissioner’s Office staff led the carol singing. The programme concluded with a closing prayer by Mass. Best Employee of the Year awards were also presented to two best-performing employees.
