Coinciding with Tsungkamnyo Mini Hornbill festival of Yimchungru tribe, Nagaland Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the new DC office Complex and five other associated offices of the Superintendent of Police, DPRO office, DYRO office, DPO (Planning) office and District Sericulture Office in Shamator on 16th January 2026.  The inauguration was to serve the people more efficiently and to strengthen the institutional framework of District Administration.

         Speaking at the inaugural program, the Chief Minister sincerely acknowledged and thanked the Departmental Engineers, Contractors, workers and the local community for their dedication, cooperation and support in making these project a reality for the people of the District. 

         Dr. Rio informed that Shamator being one of the newly created Districts of Nagaland was established with the objectives of bringing administration closer to the people and ensuring inclusive and balance development. However, he lamented that the absence of a fully functional Deputy Commissioner’s office had posed challenges in effective governance, coordination among Departments, delivery of public services and implementation of Government schemes. The inaugurations of offices will address the gaps and lays a strong foundation for efficient District Administration, Rio added. 

         Asserting that the Deputy Commissioner is the principal administrative and Executive authority at the District Level, responsible for revenue, administration, maintenance of law and order, disaster management, development, planning and coordination among line Departments, Rio said the establishment of these office in the District is therefore a critical step towards strengthening governance, improving service delivery and ensuring overall welfare of the people. Rio also said establishment of Treasury and Sub Treasury Office will depend on the necessity of transactions. 

         The CM further urged every citizens of Shamator District to take collective responsibility in maintaining and making the best use of the facility so that it truly serves the purpose for which it has been created. DC complex should become a Centre of efficient, transparent and citizen-centric governance for the people of Shamator, Rio added.  

         He also extended Tsungkamnyo wishes to the people and encouraged to let new office Complex usher in a new era of effective Administration and sustainable development for the Shamator District.
