In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 4 of the Census Act, 1948 (Act. No.37 of 1948), the Home Department, Government of Nagaland has appointed the officers mentioned in column (2) of the Scheduled below as Census Officers with the designation  shown against each column  thereof, to take or aid in or supervise the taking of the census of India 2027 within their jurisdiction mentioned against each column (4) of the table given below:

In exercise of the power conferred by sub-section 4 of the said Act, the Officers noted at column (2) of the above table, has the power of appointing census officers within their respective jurisdiction.

As per the provision of section 11 of the census act 1948, any census officer or any person lawfully required to giver assistance towards the taking of Census and who refuses to perform duty allotted to him/her under this Act or any rule made there under or any person who hinders or obstructs another person in performing any such duty, shall be punishable with a fine up to one thousand rupees and in case of a conviction shall also be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to three years.
