On the 77th Republic Day, the world’s largest Khadi national flag was displayed at Dhordo in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, symbolizing national pride, self-reliance, and India’s cultural heritage.
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman, Manoj Kumar in his address dedicated the display to soldiers of 'Operation Sindoor.' He credited Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s leadership for elevating the Khadi movement and urged citizens to buy Khadi flags. Marking the 25th anniversary of the 2001 Bhuj earthquake, he praised the city’s remarkable reconstruction and development, highlighting its strategic role in national security and the symbolic significance of the ‘Smriti Van’ memorial as a testament to resilience and nation-building.
The Khadi national flag, created by KVIC to celebrate 75 years of independence under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ measures 225×150 feet, weighing 1,400 kg, and made from 4,500 meters of hand-spun Khadi cotton,with a 30-foot Ashoka Chakra, it took 70 artisans 49 days to complete.
Its display at the Great Rann of Kutch showcases India’s heritage craftsmanship and inspires citizens, highlighting Khadi’s glorious past and promising future.
