The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, NCS, has issued a directive for a district-wide Mass Social Work on April 10, 2026, starting from 07:00 AM. This initiative is a critical step in the district’s monsoon preparedness strategy to prevent clogging and ensure public hygiene before the onset of rainy season.
For Kohima town, the team leaders will coordinate with designated officials to arrange garbage trucks for efficient garbage disposal. Collected waste must be transported to the designated Kohima Municipal Council Waste Dumping Site below IG Stadium, to be supervised by the Kohima Municipal Council. All the Ward Councillors and Colony/Ward Chairmen of Kohima are requested to mobilize residents at the grassroots level. The KCCI shall supervise the business establishments located along the stretch from TCP Gate to Keziekie. In the sub-divisions and villages, the concerned Administrative Officers will spearhead similar activities.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that community participation is vital to making Kohima resilient against monsoon-related challenges. Hence, the citizens have been requested to come forward and actively contribute towards the mass social work.
