The Department of Power, Electrical Sub Division, Mon informed all customers that due to certain temporary technical issues in the TUPS Computer billing system, some consumers have received electricity bills containing accumulated readings of previous months in a single billing cycle.

The Department sincerely regrets the inconvenience and confusion caused to consumers and assure the public that this issue is being addressed urgently. It is also to be clarified that this billing discrepancy is not caused by Smart Meter installation or Smart Meter technology. The issue arose due to technical problems in the TUPS billing/computer system during data processing and bill generation. Consumers are requested not to panic or spread rumours regarding Smart Metering. Necessary corrections and adjustments are being worked out, and consumers will receive normal and regular billing in the upcoming billing cycle.

The Department further assured that the issue is temporary and under rectification. Future bills will reflect normal monthly consumption., and Consumers with genuine billing concerns may approach the office of the Electrical subdivision, Mon for clarification and assistance.

The Department sincerely seeks the cooperation and understanding of all consumers during this transition period.
