The ADC Longleng, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, NCS, in an order stated that several shopkeepers, roadside open vendors, business establishments, and individuals arc occupying and encroaching upon public footpaths, walkways, roadsides, drains, and spaces in front of shops and commercial establishments by displaying goods, construction materials, furniture, temporary structures. and other articles, obstructing free movement of pedestrians, causing inconvenience to customers, hindering traffic low, and creating public nuisance.
    Such unauthorized occupation and encroachment of public streets, footpaths, walkways, and public spaces are detrimental to public safety, convenience, sanitation, and orderly urban management.
    The order stated that under the provisions of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, all public roads, footpaths, pavements, public streets, and public places vest in and are regulated by the Municipal/Town Council. and no person shall obstruct, occupy, or encroach upon such public spaces without lawful authority.
    The ADC ordered that all shopkeepers, roadside/open vendors, business establishments, and individuals are directed to immediately remove and clear all encroachments, obstructions. goods, materials, temporary structures, stalls, furniture, and any other articles placed on public footpaths, walkways, roadsides, drains, and spaces in front of their premises.
    The following activities are strictly prohibited in the town.
    1. Occupation or encroachment of public footpaths, walkways, roadsides, drains, and public spaces for display. storage, or sale of goods and materials.
    2. Setting up of temporary stalls, kiosks, vending structures, or any activity obstructing roads, pedestrian pathways, or public places.
    3. Placing construction materials, equipment, furniture, or other articles on public roads. footpaths, and municipal land.
    4. Blocking entrances of shops, public access areas, or pedestrian pathways causing inconvenience to the public.
    5. Any act resulting in obstruction to free movement of pedestrians, emergency services, or vehicular traffic: Failure to comply shall result in immediate removal of encroachments, recovery of removal expenses Seizure confiscation of materials, goods, structures, or articles causing obstruction, Imposition of penalties and initiation of legal proceedings.
    The Order is issued in the interest of public convenience, pedestrian safety, smooth traffic movement, cleanliness, public health., and maintenance of civic discipline and orderly urban environment within Longleng Town. It shall come into force with immediate effect and shall be strictly complied with by all concerned.
