In view of the reported cases of detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) under Wokha district, reported from the office of CVO & A.H. Office Wokha, Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao has notified the under mentioned areas as infected zone and surveillance zones under Section 6(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infection and Contagious Diseases in Animal Act 2009, for Control and containment of ASF disease.
The infected zones are Lower Mt. Tiyi College Area, Wokha Block, Wokha Village Wokha Block, Wokha Town, Wokha Block (1km radius of infected premises).
Surveillance zone will cover 10 km radius from the infected premises (9 km radius outside the infected zone).
Considering the highly contagious nature of ASF and its severe impact on the pig population and the livelihood of farmers, DC Wokha has issued the following SOPs to be strictly adhered to in the aforementioned location until further orders.
1. Ban on slaughter of pigs
2. Ban on import and export of pigs and piglets
3. Ban on transportation of pigs/ pork and pork products from infected and surveillance zones
4. Immediate reporting of unusual pig sickness/ mortality
5. Proper disposal of carcasses as per prescribed guidelines
6. Strict adherence to disinfection and bio- security protocols.
