Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Phek, Rhosietho Nguori has informed that, in view of the monsoon rainfall experienced across Phek district, heavy rainfall is expected in lowlands and foothill areas of Phek district leading to possibility of water logging, flash flooding, landslides and rising water level in rivers and streams due to heavy precipitation in the catchment areas.
As a precautionary measure and in order to avoid any eventualities, the DC urged and advised the general public to refrain from venturing out to the river banks for picnic and fishing etc during current rainfall monsoon season.
Public are also informed to report area administrative officers or report to given helpline numbers (DDMA Phek: 9612991418, State Emergency Operation Centre: (a) 0370-2270129/30 and (b)1070 (Toll free number) on any incidents/summer monsoon effect.
Further, all area Administrative Officers/ Heads of Departments/ Village Disaster Management Authorities and Village Council Authorities/ Ward Authorities are directed to be on standby to attend emergencies resulting from natural calamities.
