The Deputy Commissioner, Longleng has issue a notification informing that incessant rain has caused damages to National Highways along Longleng-Changtongya, Longieng-lamlu, Longleng-Aboi (Mon), Longleng-Tuensang routes, severely affecting and completely cutting off inter-District & intra-Village connectivity across Longleng District;

            In these circumstances, the notification stated that it becomes imperative to issue directions to maintain availability and ensure equitable distribution of essential commodities. In this regard the Deputy Commissioner directed the dealers, distributors and other intermediaries under Longleng District to ensure that there is no hoarding, black marketing, artificial scarcity, or overpricing of essential commodities and non-essential commodities.

            Further, to safeguard consumer interests and ensure uninterrupted supply of essential/non-essential commodities, daily inspections and surprise checks will be conducted by the Inspection Team. The dealers/distributors/wholesalers/intermediaries are directed to submit daily stock report to the Inspection Team for further submission to DC’s office. It stated that strict action will be taken under the relevant provisions of Essential Commodities Act, 1955 against defaulters.
