Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Mon Wennyei Konyak, NCS, informed all the concerned citizen of Mon District that The Election Commission of India has ordered the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll in the State of Nagaland with 01.10.2026 as the qualifying date. While carrying out the SIR of the electoral rolls, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of each Assembly Constituency shall be responsible for ensuring that no eligible citizen is left out while no ineligible person is included in the Electoral Roll.

            The schedule and activities of SIR in Nagaland are:

            1. Preparation, Training & Printing (05.08.2026 to 14.08.2026): During this preparatory stage, meetings with important stakeholders, including political parties, setting up of help desks, training of BLOs and officials connected with SIR, dissemination of important information, printing of Enumeration Forms (EF), and issue of the forms to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will take place.

             2. House-to-House Visits by BLOs (16.08.2026 to 14.09.2026): BLOs shall visit each household and distribute the Enumeration Form with pre-printed details of existing electors to each existing elector in duplicate and will guide them in filling up the form. Each elector must submit the completed form along with the required information to the BLO. BLOs will again visit every household to collect the filled  copy of the enumeration Form from the electors. BLO shall keep one copy of Enumeration Form with him/her and give an acknowledgment Form to be retained by the receipt applicant.

            3. Rationalization of Polling Stations (By 14.09.2026): Based on house-to-house enumeration, EROs shall assess the need of new  polling stations, considering  that no polling station has more than 1,200 electors except with the prior approval of the Commission. ERO shall ensure that the Polling station area is so  defined and demarcated that no overlaps exist with any other polling station.

             4. Publication of Draft Electoral Roll (20.09.2026): The Draft Electoral Roll shall consist of  the names of all existing electors who have submitted their duly filled Enumeration. Forms to the BLO during the house-to-house enumeration period or which  have been received online and verified by the BLO. Names of the other electors from whom Enumeration Form are not received, will not be  included in the draft roll. In case any  elector is unable  to submit Form 6 along with the prescribed Declaration Form for inclusion during the claims and objections period.

             5. Period for Claims and Objections (20.09.2026 to 20.10.2026): After publication of the Draft Electoral Roll, the ERO/AERO shall scrutinize the eligibility of proposed electors in accordance with the qualification of the electors prescribed under Article 326 of the Constitution and Sections 16 & 19 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, based on documents submitted and field reports.

            6. Notice Phase / Disposal of Claims and Objections (20.09.2026 to 18.11.2026): If the ERO/AERO doubts the eligibility of any proposed elector due to non-submission of required documents or otherwise, a suo motu enquiry will be initiated and notice issued. Based on field enquiry and documentation, the ERO/AERO shall decide on inclusion in the Final Electoral Roll. Cases of suspected foreign nationals will be referred to the competent authority under the Citizenship Act, 1955.

             7. Publication of Final Electoral Roll (22.11.2026): the final electoral roll of the State will be published by the EROs on 22.11.2026.

             As SIR is a participative exercise involving all stakeholders, including electors, political parties, and election officials, all concerned are appealed to actively participate and extend full cooperation and support in ensuring the preparation of an error-free Electoral Rolls for the State of Nagaland:
