My dear brothers and sisters of Nagaland,
On the eve of the 80th Independence Day of our great nation, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all the people of Nagaland.
Tomorrow, as we celebrate eighty years of India's Independence, we pay homage to the countless freedom fighters, visionaries and patriots whose sacrifices secured for us the priceless gift of freedom. Their courage, determination and unwavering faith in the ideals of justice, equality and democracy laid the foundation of the Republic we proudly call our own today.
Independence Day is not only an occasion for celebration; it is also a moment of reflection. It reminds us of the responsibilities that accompany freedom. It calls upon us to renew our commitment to the values enshrined in our Constitution and to work together for the progress, unity, and prosperity of our nation.
Over the past eight decades, India has emerged as one of the world's leading democracies and a growing global force. From agriculture to industry, from science and technology to space exploration, from education to healthcare, our nation has made remarkable strides. The resilience and determination of our people have enabled India to overcome challenges and continue its journey towards becoming a developed and self-reliant nation.
Today, India stands at a defining moment in its history. Guided by the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the nation is striving to build a future that is prosperous, inclusive, innovative and sustainable. The progress we witness across sectors reflects the collective aspirations and efforts of over a billion citizens who are committed to nation-building.
Nagaland, too, has been an active participant in this journey of national progress. Our State is blessed with vibrant cultures, rich traditions and resilient communities. The strength of Nagaland lies in its people—our youth, women, farmers, entrepreneurs, artisans, public servants and community leaders—who continue to contribute to the development of the State.
I am encouraged by the growing emphasis on education, skill development, entrepreneurship, sports and innovation among our young people. The youth of Nagaland possess immense talent and potential. They are capable of excelling not only within the State but also on national and international platforms. It is our collective responsibility to create an environment that enables them to realise their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society.
As we celebrate this historic milestone, let us also recognise the vital role of women in shaping our communities and strengthening our society. Across Nagaland, women continue to make invaluable contributions in education, healthcare, agriculture, entrepreneurship, governance and social development. Their participation and leadership are essential for building a stronger and more inclusive future.
Our farmers and rural communities remain the backbone of our economy. Their hard work sustains livelihoods and ensures food security. We must continue to support efforts aimed at improving agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable farming practices and creating better market opportunities for our farmers.
The Government's focus on infrastructure development, digital connectivity, healthcare services and social welfare initiatives is helping to improve the quality of life of our citizens. Roads, communication networks, educational institutions and healthcare facilities are vital foundations for progress. As these efforts continue, it is important that every citizen becomes an active partner in the development process.
At the same time, we must remain conscious of the challenges before us. Issues such as unemployment, substance abuse, environmental degradation and social divisions require our collective attention and action. The solution to these challenges lies not only in government programmes but also in community participation, responsible citizenship and a shared sense of purpose.
Nagaland has always been known for its strong community spirit and rich cultural heritage. Our traditions teach us the values of mutual respect, cooperation and harmony. These values remain as relevant today as they were for previous generations. As we move forward, let us preserve our cultural identity while embracing the opportunities of a rapidly changing world.
On this occasion, I would also like to acknowledge the contributions of our security forces, police personnel and all those who work tirelessly to maintain peace and security. Their dedication and sacrifice enable us to live in safety and pursue our aspirations with confidence. We are equally grateful to doctors, nurses, teachers, civil servants and countless unsung heroes who serve society with commitment and sincerity.
The future of Nagaland and India depends on our ability to work together beyond differences of tribe, region, language, religion or political affiliation. The strength of our democracy lies in our diversity and our progress depends upon our unity. Let us foster a spirit of understanding, tolerance and cooperation, recognising that we are all partners in the shared task of nation-building.
As we commemorate eighty years of Independence, let us reaffirm our commitment to building a peaceful, progressive and prosperous Nagaland. Let us strive to create opportunities for our youth, empower our women, protect our environment, strengthen our institutions and uphold the rule of law. Let us work together to ensure that the benefits of development reach every village, every family and every citizen.

The story of India is a story of hope, resilience and collective endeavour. It is a story that continues to unfold with each generation. As inheritors of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, we must carry forward their legacy with dedication and integrity.
May the spirit of patriotism inspire us to serve our State and our nation with renewed commitment. May we continue to contribute towards a stronger, more united and more prosperous India.
