Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister also in-charge of Home and Roads and Bridges, Y.Patton, inaugurated the RCC Girder Bridge on River Chathe Diphupar 'A' behind Referral Hospital, Dimapur and also the RCC Girder Bridge on River Dhansari at Nagarjan Dimapur on 21st December 2020.

Unveiling the plaque of the two bridges on behalf of the Government of Nagaland, his colleagues, and PWD ( R&B) department, Patton expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Nagaland for his gracious support by even giving additional fund to ensure that the bridges becomes functional before Christmas. He also thanked the legislators of Dimapur district and also the contractor Rokolhou Angami for their constant help and support thereby allowing the Government to inaugurate the bridges for the welfare of the people. Patton also expressed his appreciation to the surrounding villages, area leaders, public, leaders and youth for rendering their full support for successful completion of the respective bridges. On the occasion, Patton reminded the department to take note of his notification, for keeping signboards with the name of the contractor in all the roads and bridges that are constructed under R&B.

Perhaps it was a bumper Christmas gift for the Dimapurians as the Deputy CM also announced for allowing commuters to commute in the Ballijan bridge starting from today, though not officially inaugurated. 

Commissioner & Secretary, Works and Housing Department, Rovilatuo Mor IAS in his introductory remark informed that the project for construction of RCC Girder Bridge over Chate at Diphupar A was sanctioned by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways during July 2015 for an amount of Rs.37.66 crore and work awarded to M/S Naagaamii Infratech Pvt.Ltd during 2016. The bridge layout was given during October 2017, after dismantling the old bridge and work commenced, he informed.

Also giving a report of the RCC Girder Bridge over Dhansiri at Nagarjan Dimapur, Mor informed that the project was sanctioned by the same Ministry during July 2015 amounting to Rs.37.95 crore and work was also awarded to the same firm. Informing that the existing Nagarjan Bridge was constructed by the British Government, though no official records are available, it was opined to keep the bridge as a heritage structure. In view of this the construction of new bridge was relocated at the adjacent land and for which the land owners agreed to provide the land under the initiative of the contractor. The bridge layout was given during October 2017 and with the tireless effort of the contractor the bridge could be successfully completed, Mor added.

On the occasion, Mor on behalf of the department acknowledged the cooperation and support of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister who is also Minister incharge for R&B, District Administration and Commissioner Police Dimapur for successful completion of the 2 bridge projects. He further thanked the general public and the road users for being patient although they had to go through inconveniences.

The inauguration of the 2 RCC bridges was witnessed by several Ministers and Advisors including Jacob Zhimomi, Pangyu Phom, Neiba Kronu, Nicky Kire, Tovihoto, Kazheto Kinimi, Kasheho Sangtam, Zhaleo Rio besides other legislators. Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan IAS, Commissioner Police Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo IPS, Engineer in Chief, Lima Dongdang, Chief Engineer, Limanaro, Superintendent Engineer, Ahoto, EE R& B Dimapur, Talitemsu, respective area village council members and hosts of dignitaries also attended the inaugural programme. Dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev.Dr.Dozo.
