A two-day online Training of Teachers under Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) was held on the 25th and 27thof August 2021. The training was conducted by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society in coordination with the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Kohima, Nagaland.
The training was conducted with an aim to enhance the understanding and skills of teachers to effectively address the adolescents at schools and empower them to make healthy choices.
The two-day sessions comprised of different topics such as HIV/AIDS and STI, Growing up and Adolescence Reproductive Sexual Health, Current HIV scenario and prevalence in Nagaland, Overview of AEP in India and some best practices in other States, Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Life Skills for HIV prevention. The resource persons were SonalWalia, Consultant (IEC & MST), NACO, New Delhi;MetevinuoSakhrie, Joint Director (IEC), NSACS;ThejangunuoTheunuo, Dy. Director (IEC) NSACS;AinatoYeptho Dy. Director (SPM) NSACS and Chongkoi Khaming, Asst. Director (MM). The moderator for the sessions was AD (Youth Affairs) NSACS, Puthenhenmei.
On the first day, the welcome address was given by Secretary, Nagaland Board of School Education, Rangumbuing Nsarangbe and on the last day, the concluding remarks and vote of thanks was delivered by Chairman, Nagaland Board of School Education, Asano Sekhose.
The program was attended by around 600 teachers of High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools from all the district of Nagaland.
