Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is a national programme for popularizing science among school students of standard VI to XI, conceptualised to identify the bright minds with a scientific aptitude among the student community. It is an initiative of Vigyan Bharati in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organization under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). VVM is an online open-book science talent search examination conducted at the national level, which students can take from the comfort of their home using their own digital device such as smartphone, tablet, laptop, desktop, etc. The School Level examination for 2021-22 will be held nationwide on 30th November or 5th December 2021 any time between 10.00 am to 8:00 pm for 90 minutes. The winners of the School Level, District level and State Level will be given participation certificate/merit certificate. National level winners ¬– Himalayans (18 students) and Zonal Level winners (72 students) – will be undergoing Internship-cum-Extensive Training programme (SRIJAN) in the leading R&D labs of the country. Bhaskara Scholarships will be offered to the Himalayan (18 students). Further, VVM 2021-22 is coming up with a unique opportunity for all registered participants to take part in the Mega Nation-Wide Experiment based on the food habits of students, nutritional value of the food they take and its environmental impact. The objectives of this mega experiment are to inculcate observational skills, a scientific mindset, and an analytical thinking among our students. In order to help the science teachers acquaint themselves with this unique programme and thereby help them to motivate and encourage the students to participate in it, all heads of institutions registered with the NBSE are asked to direct the science teachers of their schools to attend a Zoom meeting on 1st October 2021 at 4:00 pm.
