The reception cum interaction program for the President of NCUI, Dileep Sangkhani, and his official team was held on 10th March 2022 at Hotel Japfu Kohima.

Interacting with the officials of Cooperative societies and Nagaland State Cooperative Union, Sangkhani said the cooperatives offer enormous opportunities and can effectively address the task of socio-economic development of the North East region in general and Nagaland in particular where agriculture, products are higher in value.

Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation, G. Kaito Aye said the introduction of cooperative societies in Nagaland has been relatively late compared to other parts of the country. He called upon the cooperative societies to work genuinely for the welfare of the people and those non-functional societies should be deregistered.

He also highlighted to the NCUI team that the state can be promoted as a centre for organically produced and eco-friendly as Nagaland has been an organic state, cooperatives would promote opportunities for production and marketing of organic products, health food, eco-, and bio- goods, herbal medicine, etc. through an integrated strategy for sustainable and equitable utilization of its natural resources and biodiversity. He also appealed to the visiting team to highlight the productivity and marketable linkages to the main stakeholders for the progress of the farmers.
