In pursuance of the provision of Subsection (1) of section 29 of the Representation of People Act, 1951, Additional Secretary & Returning Officer for the election by the Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly to fill one seat in the Council of the States on the retirement of K.G. Kenye on 02/04/2022, has fixed, with the previous approval of the Election Commission, the Conference Hall, Annex Room of the Assembly Secretariat as the place at which a poll will be taken in pursuance of the Election Commission’s Notification No. 318/CS/Multi/1/2022(1) dated 14th March 2022.

           Statutory rules and orders:                                                                     

1. An election is to be held of a Member to the Council of States by the elected Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly;
2. Nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or his proposer to the Returning Officer or the Assistant Returning Officer at Room No. 65, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat, between 11:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M on any day (other than public holiday) not later than 21s1 March, 2022;
3. Forms of nomination paper may be obtained at the place and times aforesaid;
4. The nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 12 (Noon) on 22nd March, 2022 at the Office of the Returning Officer;
5. Notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered by a candidate or his proposers or his election agent who has been authorized in writing by the candidate to deliver it to either of the Officers specified in paragraph (2) above at his Office before 3:00 P.M. on the 24th March, 2022;
6. In the event of the election being contested, the poll will be taken on 31sl March, 2022 between the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
