The Nagaland Olympic Association organized the one-day Olympic Day Run event at IG Stadium Kohima on 25th June 2022 in commemoration of World Olympic Day under the theme "Together for a Peaceful World" with Metsubo Jamir, Minister, Department of Rural Development as the Special Guest.

Speaking on behalf of Chief Minister Nagaland who is also the President of the Nagaland Olympic Association, Metsubo highlighted the power of sports in bringing people together and acting as a unifying factor for people from all sections of society. He also announced that the next edition of the Nagaland Olympics will be held in August 2022 wherein athletes from all the districts including the newly inaugurated districts will participate in various disciplines under the banner of the Nagaland Olympic Association. He further said that for the first time, selected Paralympic Events will also be included making it the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games. In conclusion, he urged everyone to use the power of sports to strengthen the bonds of unity and to celebrate the energy and talents of our youth.

The Olympic Day Run was marked by races under several categories which included the 400m, 600m, 800m, and 1500m races for specified age groups for both male and female athletes separately.
