DC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie has informed on 30th April 2020 that in view of the reported outbreak of the "African Swine Fever" and high mortality of pigs in the neighboring states; it is hereby notified that import of pigs from outside the State is banned under Kohima district jurisdiction with immediate effect

The Order also added that the general public is advised not to hunt or consume any wild meat, especially wild boar, Civet etc since there is a strong possibility of the virus being present in such wild animals.
