The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department issues weather updates for the coming days. In the coming days, Nagaland will experience isolated heavy rainfall due to the influence of an east-west trough from northwest Rajasthan to south Bihar and south-westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal to northeast India at lower tropospheric levels which is expected to be fairly widespread. There may be heavy rainfall from the 28th to 31st of May all over the state. However, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds is very likely to occur in certain pockets in the districts of Kohima, Wokha, Kiphire, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon, and Longleng during this period. The NSDMA, Home Department urges the public to be vigilant during the monsoon period. The public is requested not to shelter under large trees or picnic near river banks to prevent unnecessary risk to life from lightning and flash floods. The NSDMA also requests all the DDMAs and line departments responsible for attending to emergencies caused by natural calamities, to be on alert and save lives & properties during this monsoon period
