Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) conducted an awareness programme on 4 priority schemes on 28th May 2022 at the White Hall, Noklak village.

Justice Songkhupchung Serto, Judge Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench & Executive Chairman NSLSA mentioned that in the past food, clothing, and home were the basic needs of humans. However, over the years, it was realized that a person cannot live without the right to dignity. Serto asked the villagers to know their rights, based on the four schemes and opined that the government has provided every person with different rights and entitlements and we must pluck the fruits of the schemes.

Justice Kakheto Sema, Judge of Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench opined that the legal services and court were inseparable wings in the justice delivery system for the people. Justice pointed out that, the laying of the foundation stone for the district, Noklak has also come on the map of the judicial headquarter where a court and legal services will come into form.

Secretary (Judicial) Department of Law & Justice, Government of Nagaland Nino Iralu explained the role of Para Legal Volunteers, especially in the rural areas where many people are unable to access or receive legal rights where PLV are instrumental in helping and assisting people in availing benefits.

Superintendent of Police, Noklak Dr. Pritpal Kaur, stated that the bringing of a court would be profitable to the people of Noklak as it would make easier justice delivery system better for the public, especially for victims and accused.

Resource persons of the programme were Advocate S. Pusham on Social Welfare Schemes, Advocate B.Langshen on National Food Security Act, Advocate Themshao Khiamniungan on Health Schemes, and Chelliam Khiamniungan JMFC cum Secretary Phek DLSA on Right to Education.

Welcome address was spoken by Member secretary, NSLSA Victo Sema while vote of thanks was delivered by JMFC & Secretary, Tuensang DLSA Kumdilong Kessen. Project Coordinator NSLSA Kezhosano Kikhi was the moderator.
