Advisor to the Chief Minister, Abu Metha launched the Film Fiesta, Open Air Cinema at The Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on 2nd December 2022. The Open Air Cinema is a three-day event from 2nd to 4th December 2022, where films will be screened from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Main Arena. The Film Fiesta is organized by the Department of Information & Public Relations.
Joint Director, IPR, Asangla Imsong speaking during the launch said that specially curated short films will be screened during the three-day event. The Film Fiesta will provide an opportunity for the State’s filmmakers to get their films in front of live audiences which is not very common in the State. She also thanked the Advisor to CM, Abu Metha for his support and encouragement in the Department’s initiatives and activities.
Advisor, Abu Metha addressing the gathering after the launch said that the Hornbill Festival is a platform to highlight the innovation, creativity, and vibrancy of Naga youth, it highlights Brand Nagaland and Naga soft power not just to the nation but also to the global community. Stating that it is about Nagas, celebrating their unique identity under the spirit of solidarity and unity. He added that the Hornbill Festival sends out a strong message that Nagas are one people and that they have the ambition to contribute towards the nation-building process and add to the rich diversity of the nation.
Metha lauded the DIPR for the initiative which is a first of its kind in the State, he also congratulated the Tourism department for the grand success of the 23rd Hornbill Festival opening ceremony. He also requested the visitors and guests who have come from the country and around the world to come back, stating that though the State has shortcomings, the Festival has various experiences to offer, and stated that they can become ambassadors of the Festival, wherever they go.
Explaining about the film, Ground Zero which was screened after the launch, Metha said that the film led by Sesino Yhoshü and Take One production, is about sports persons from Nagaland, the film takes one through the experiences and training they go through to achieve their ambition. Metha said that the film exemplifies the newfound ambition of the younger generation of Naga youth, and is also meant to motivate the youngsters of the state. The other episodes will be soon available on social media and YouTube for viewing. The film was produced by the Nagaland Olympic Association.
