AN OVERVIEW OF THE RESULTS OF HSLC & HSSLC EXAMINATIONS 2023

The HSLC Examination 2023 commenced from 10th March 2023 and concluded on 22nd March 2023 and the HSSLC Examination 2023 commenced from 9th March 2023 and concluded on 31st March 2023. In HSLC, a total of 24361 candidates were enrolled and in the HSSLC a total of 16085 were enrolled for the examination.

 

A.        HSLC Examination 2023:

 

Out of 24361 candidates, a total of 17130 candidates qualified the examination with a qualified percentage of 70.32%.

The girls have done better with 9350 girls and 7780 boys qualifying the examination. In the Top 20 list, there are 99 candidates out of which 33 are boys and 66 are girls.

140 schools secured 100% qualified/pass percentage. Out of which, 112 are private schools and 28 are government schools. This year, 24 schools have zero/nil result and all are government schools.

In terms of district-wise performance for government schools, Kohima district topped the table with a percentage of 73% followed by Mokokchung and Phek districts at 70% and 63%. Shamator district is at the bottom with 6%.

In respect of private schools, Noklak district is at the top with a percentage of 97% followed by Kohima at 94%.

The number of candidates who secured 80% and above in aggregate is 2716 out of which, 61 candidates are from government schools.

            26 candidates with Special Needs applied for various concessions like extra time, scribe, exemption of examination fees, use of laptop, etc. and appeared the examination. 17 of them qualified the examination while 9 of them got Needs Improvement results.

 

B.        HSSLC Examination 2023:

 

15 institutions under Arts stream, 5 institutions under Science stream and 4 institutions under Commerce stream secured 100% pass result.

The overall pass percentage in Arts stream is 82.62%, Commerce stream is 85.83% and Science stream is 86.79%

It is heartening to mention that there are two toppers from Government Higher Secondary Schools in the Merit list at the HSSLC Examination 2023 in Arts stream from Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Tuli in Rank 9 and Rank 10 from Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Jalukie.

            In Children with Special Needs (CWSN) category, 13 candidates applied for concession and appeared the examination. Out of 13 candidates, 11 of them passed, 4 in 1st Division and 7 in 2nd Division. 2 candidates failed.

 

C.        HSLC and HSSLC Compartmental Examination

            In addition to the conduct of HSLC Compartmental Examination, the Board shall be conducting the Compartmental Examination for HSSLC candidates with effect from this year i.e. 2023. Candidates failing in 3 or less subjects are eligible to sit for the examination. Two chances will be given to clear the compartmental papers to reduce drop-out rates from the system.

D.        Improvement examination

            Improvement examination in three or less subjects for both HSLC & HSSLC passed candidates shall be conducted along with Compartmental Examination w.e.f. 2023. This is to help students improve and pursue courses of their choice in line with the vision of National Education Policy 2020.

E.         Improvement examination in 1(one) subject.

            Provision for candidates who qualified at the HSLC Examination but secured Needs Improvement in one subject will be given the opportunity to reappear in the Needs Improvement subject at the immediate examination will be introduced w.e.f. 2023 so that they can apply for courses, fulfill certain recruitment criteria and employment where they need to pass in all the subject they have opted.

F.         Information for HSLC/HSSLC Repeaters

            A repeater candidate shall appear the HSLC/HSSLC Examination as per the existing prescribed syllabus and course of the examination concerned.

            Repeaters shall submit the Application forms and Examination fee for HSLC Examination 2024 online during 1st – 12th August 2023 and for HSSLC Examination from 8th – 12th August 2023.
