Under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) "Per Drop More Crop" scheme, which is basically drip irrigation project, Dimapur district has installed more than 200 units at different fruit and vegetable farms covering several villages, under the initiative of District Horticulture officer Dimapur, Temsu Longkumer. DHO Dimapur has been personally inspecting farms, interacting with farmers and encouraging them to produce more for self-sufficiency and income generation with the help of modern scientific technology provided by the government.

Speaking to DPRO Dimapur, one Mohindor from North Bengal Irrigation who is also the technician/ incharge for installation of Per Drop Per Crop Scheme for Nagaland, narrated that he has surveyed the entire districts of Nagaland for the said project. He informed that project work under Dimapur district was nearing completion under the initiative of DHO Dimapur Temsu. The 2nd phase would be carried out at Kohima district, Mohindor said. Speaking about the drip irrigation project, he observed that normal watering by cane loosen the roots. On the contrary, drip falls drop by drop making the fruits and vegetables healthy and also enhances water use efficiency.

Mention may be made that PMKSY was launched on 1st July 2015 with the objective to achieve convergence of investments in irrigation sector at field level. The scheme aims at providing end to end solutions in irrigation supply chain. Micro irrigation is an integral component of the scheme to maximise water use efficiency at farm level. PMKSY adopts state level planning and projectised execution that allows states for drawing up their own irrigation development based on District Irrigation Plans and State Irrigation Plans.
