Results of the bye-election to Ward 11 (Chaara) of Chumoukedima Town Council, Ward 8 (Tsumang 'B') of Wokha Town Council and Ward 9 (Samba Ghoki) of Atoizu Town Council, which was held on 16th June 2026 were declared on 19th June 2026.

State Election Commissioner, Nagaland, T. John Longkumer, IPR (Rtd) through a press communique informed that in Ward 11 of Chumoukedima Town Council, Neichű-u Kuotsu, NPF defeated his opponent Kezhangutuo Zhotso, BJP by a margin of 90 votes, securing 58.01% or 326 votes of the total valid votes cast. The BJP candidate polled 236 votes with a vote share of 41.99 % of the total valid votes. Out of 566 votes, 4 were declared invalid.

Under Ward 8 of Wokha Town Council with 565 votes polled and 10 invalid votes, NPF candidate Ar. Aling Lotha emerged the winner by a margin of 37 votes, bagging 296 valid votes with a vote share of 53.33%. His rival candidate, Mhomo Humtsoe of BJP, polled 259 valid votes or 46.67% of the total valid votes.

Longkumer also informed that in Atoizu Town Council Ward 9, Independent candidate Inaka Z. Chishi secured victory over his rival NPF candidate G. Shikavi Kiba by a margin of 17 votes. Out of a total of 188 votes cast, with 1 invalid vote, the winner got 102 valid votes or 54.55% of the total valid votes, while his opponent received 85 valid votes or 45.45%.

State Election Commission, Nagaland acknowledged and commended the various election officials, including ROs, AROs, DCs, DCP/SPs, Election Observers, Sector Magistrates, Sector Commanders, Master Trainer, District Level Master Trainers, Polling and other election officials, support staff, security personnel and participating Departments for their role and support for the smooth and successful completion of the election process. It also acknowledged and appreciated the participation from electors, media coverage from various media houses and personnel, due support from the State Government and Ward authorities as well as cooperation from relevant Civil Society Organizations.

The State Election Commissioner further congratulated all the winning candidates and also wished them the very best.
