On Matters of Urgent Public Importance under Rule-54 pertaining to "Foothill Road Construction", MLA, Imkong L. Imchen said that the construction of the Foothill Road would help ease the Assam-Nagaland border issue. He also said that it was not for the benefit of one tribe but for everyone in Nagaland. This route would bring expected and unexpected development in the State and the demand for construction of the road is genuine and urgent.

On Foothill Road Construction, Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio mentioned that the matter has been taken up on several occasions with the MoRTH. He also said that the importance of the road highlights many economic potentials and opportunities for the people living in the hills and it would bring all kinds of economic activities. While concluding the discussion, the House unanimously passed that the Foothill Road would be completed with NEC funds.
