A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed between Department of Power Nagaland and M/s.Tvaksas Renewable Pvt. Ltd. for development of 20 MW Solar Power Plant at Tizit. It was held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference Hall and attended by Principal Secretary, Power, Chief Engineer (T&G), Chief Engineer (D&R), Officers of Power Department, Finance Department, Law & Justice Department and the representatives of M/s. Tvaksas Renewable Pvt. Ltd.

The Chief Engineer (T&G), Er. Nitovi A. Wotsa highlighted that the present peak demand of the State is 203 MW which is expected to reach 482 MW by 2034-35. Accordingly, the State is making plans to enhance generation capacity to meet this demand. He also said that in addition to developing generation projects through State own resources, the State is also encouraging private- sector participation to meet the growing electricity demand.

The Principal Secretary, Power highlighted the need to quickly enhance the generation capacity of the State. He highlighted the fact that unlike Hydro, Wind and Thermal generation system, there are no mechanical moving parts in Solar generation system and the gestation period is very low. He stated that Nagaland is in the sub-tropical region and the quality of solar availability is reasonably good and therefore solar generation is suitable for the State of Nagaland. Since solar projects can be implemented very fast, he requested the Developer to complete the project at the earliest. He further stated that this will not only contribute to augmenting the State’s renewable energy generation capacity but will also aid the State in meeting its Renewable Consumption Obligations (RCO).

Meanwhile, he also urged the Developer to help the local people by way of giving employment opportunities during construction and operation of the project.

The Directors of M/s. Tvaksas Renewable Pvt. Ltd., Bhakti Dave, Hardik Dave and Nayaan Ratandhayara presented the detailed project implementation plans.

This 20 MW Solar project by M/s. Tvaksas Renewable Pvt. will be the fourth private initiative in the State and the project is proposed to be set up at Lapa Lampong Village, Tizit, Mon District.
