A team member consisting of State Nodal Office officials from the Directorate of Agriculture led by Dr. I. Amenla, Joint Director (ATMA) visited Phek district from 18th to 19th May 2022 for Concurrent Monitoring & Evaluation under ATMA and to monitor other scheme programmes, activities, and the ongoing Kharif preparation under implementation by the department.

The team visited KVK Porba at Pfutsero, Persimon Farm School at Lekromi village, and Banana Farm School at Phek Basa village and had a fruitful interaction with various women SHG where problems, constraints, and success stories were shared. 

The team leader asked the scientist at KVK Porba to give special importance to millet cultivation by identifying the area, village, production, and variety grown in connection with the “International Year of Millet” to be observed next year.

The team also visited District Agriculture Office, Phek, where a meeting was held with department officials and ATMA staff. Dr. I. Amenla spoke about widening the agricultural activities by coordinating and converging Agri and allied departments along with KVK’s and ATMA to improve the working culture and to disseminate knowledge and information to the farmers.

During the visit to a maize field, Rosemary Ezung, DDA said that timely intervention is needed to control FAW and advised the farmers to monitor and scout the field at regular intervals.
