STATUS OF JAL JEEVAN MISSION IN NAGALAND

Jal Jeevan Mission under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation aims to provide drinking water supply to the rural households through Functional Household Tap Connection ( FHTC) by 2024. The Mission was announced by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on the 73rd Independence Day in 2019.

The Mission is being implemented in Nagaland by the Public Health Engineering Department.

The JJM activities include the provision of drinking water @ 55 litres per capita per day (lPcd) , support activities that focus on IEC activities and capacity building for the rural communities to manage the completed schemes by themselves, and Water Quality Monitoring & Surveillance (WQMS) which focuses on water quality aspects.

The Status as of 01/04/2022 is as follows:

1. Total no. Of villages & habitations : 1499

2. Total no. Of rural households: 3,77,286

3. FHTC provided: 1,56,984 ( 41.61%)

4. Balance FHTC for coverage during FY 2022-23 ( 58.39%)

( 1,12,800 nos. already approved during 2021-22 but spilled to 2021-22)

5. New Schemes under planning for approval during 2022- 23 = ( 2,20,302-1, 12,800) = 1,07,502

6. Total FHTC target for FY 2022-23 ( 1,12,800+ 1,07,502) : 2,20,302

The State has planned for saturation of all villages/ habitations with FHTCs during FY 2022- 23.
