Team Ace Peren (Volleyball) & IG Sports Academy, Kohima (football) became the champions of the 6th edition of Lt. Emi Shitiri (IAS).

The sixth edition of Lt. Emi Shitiri (IAS) memorial women’s football and volleyball open tournament, culminated today with Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS, Deputy Commissioner Wokha as the special guest. He appreciated the Wokha District Women's Sports Association (WDWSA) for the humongous efforts they have drawn in successfully organizing such an event. He said that today women are excelling in various sports fields and not like in those bygone days when sports was only thought of as men’s game, where he feels that women must be encouraged with special emphasis and given due effort for women participation in sports and that it is not just a game played in the ground but it reflects attitudes towards women.

            He said that a strong woman is the foundation of a strong society, stable and progressive society. While he also acknowledged that in many states in India now where women are given due respect, women are progressing and have status.

He said that sports in Nagaland required a lot of infrastructural support and that sports is to be considered as part of education and society building, he appreciated the WDWSA for conducting the sports event in the district which he assured to contribute assistants toward conducting such an event in the coming days too.

In the final match of the tournament, a volleyball match Team Ace Peren defeated Pangti Village Women's Sports Association by 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, and 25-14.

In the football match played between IG Sports Academy, Kohima and Pangti Village Women Sports Association, IG Sports Academy, Kohima trashed Pangti Village Women Sporting Association by 2-0, where Merenla the captain of IG Sports Academy, Kohima scored the first goal in the first half and the second goal came in from the boots of Akhala in the final minute of the final match.
