In view of multiple mudslides and landslides occurring along Chathe, Paglapahar, and New Chumoukedima stretches of NH-29, the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, has issued an advisory stating that movement of vehicles from Chathe Bridge to New Chumoukedima Bridge is closed until road restoration is completed.

The advisory, issued on September 14, outlined alternate routes for vehicles travelling between Dimapur and Kohima.

1.      Pimla–Mhaimantsi–Jharnapani/Medziphema route:

Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) are permitted from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) carrying essential goods (up to six wheelers only) can ply from Pimla–Mhaimantsi–Jharnapani–Medziphema between 6:00 PM and 12:00 AM, effective September 15, 2025.

From Medziphema–Jharnapani–Mhaimantsi–Pimla, HMVs (up to six wheelers carrying essentials) will be allowed between 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM, also effective September 15, 2025.

2.      Niuland–Ghotoivi–Zhadima route:

This route is designated for Light Motor Vehicles (LMV).

The advisory appealed to all travellers and transporters to follow the alternate routes and adhere to the prescribed timings for smooth and uninterrupted movement of vehicles.
