The Department of Soil & Water Conservation, Tuensang conducted a one-day training programme under soil health card & soil health management schemes under National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) 2020-2021.

JSCO, Beso Chang in his keynote highlighted the innovative programme of government of India on SHC & SHM schemes. With the ever growing population and adverse impact on soil through various anthropogenic factors, the need to manage soil fertility and its health in any agriculture activities has become very important, he said. 

Chang informed the farmers that 2,280 soil samples covering a model villages has already been tested and is in the process for obtaining SHC, through which an individual farmer would be able to know the fertility status of his farm. He encouraged the farmers to come forward for any technical assistance required in relation to SHC.

During the technical session, Programme Assistant, KVK, Seveto spoke on “Importance of soil health: Concept and practices’’. He also demonstrated the farmers on soil sample collection and geo tagged of the collective sample. 

Farmers from 13 villages, namely, Yimpang, Taknyu, Chendang, Hakchang, Noksen, Longra, Yangpi, Old Chungliyimti, Thronger, Phiri Ahir, Chare village, Chungtor and Lirise attended the training programme.
