Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Dr. L. Murugan on his visit to Phek held an interaction meeting with the Department HODs and CSOs of Phek district at the DPDB Hall, Phek on 21st April 2023.

The minister said the central government's vision is to develop the North East India region with railways and highway connectivity, communication network, and DTH connectivity, which is being undertaken in the state. He mentioned that the border villages are not the last but the first villages and those need infrastructure and connectivity.

He expressed happiness to the people of the district over the implementation of technology in fish farming and integrated farming and the Minister called upon the start-up companies and farmers to come forward to avail the facilities of PMMSY as it provides farmers with seeds, feeds, processing units, hygienic markets, cold storages, and National Livestock Mission schemes as it provides subsidies to farmers engaged in poultry, piggeries, integrated farming. He asked the officers to take up these schemes to the ground level to the farmers. He also informed that the central government has announced the allotment of Mobile Veterinary Vans for animal assistance to all the states since the government has been concerned with Animal Husbandry, fisheries, and dairying.

During the programme, the Union Minister of State virtually inaugurated the Fishery Infrastructures Assisted under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and awarded certificates to five fish farmers for their outstanding performance in fish farming.

Reports on departmental activities were also highlighted by the Department of Information Public Relations, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary.

The Union Minister of State was accompanied by Advisor, Civil Administrative Work Department, and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo. The welcome address was proposed by Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Kumar Ramnikan, IAS.
