The World Animal Day (WAD) is celebrated to commemorate the importance of caring for animals on 4th October every year. It is also a significant day to highlight the importance of animals in our lives. The theme for WAD 2020 is “Man and Dog” focusing entirely on the world of canines.

The mission of World Animal Day is to improve welfare standards for animals around the globe and work to make the world a better place for all animals in terms of caring, protecting, spreading awareness and the need to stop the cruelty to animals, thereby providing better living conditions for them. Celebrating the World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement and mobilizing it into a global force. It is celebrated in different ways world-wide, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology. Through increased awareness and education, we create a world where animals are always recognized as sentient beings.

This day is not just for domesticated animals, but also for wild animals, endangered species, and those threatened by environmental devastation or lack of protection. The day is a reminder not just to love the animals in our homes but to appreciate and respect all living things that are a part of our ecosystem.

Wishing you all a ‘Happy World Animal Day’ 2020.
