WORLD DAY AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS OBSERVED AT LONGLENG

Longleng District observed world day against human trafficking on 30th July 2020 at DC’s conference hall. The program was organized by District Task Force (DTF) BBBP, Mahila Shakti Kendra and Sakhi One Stop center Longleng on the theme “There Is Hope, Together we can stop the Traffickers, we are not powerless." with D.Robin ADC as special guest.

ADC while addressing the gathering said that the root cause of trafficking is poverty, lack of employment opportunities, low socio-economy status, lack of education and lack of proper implementation of government schemes for children like mid-day meal, Poshan Abhiyan etc.
He also said that if the village's council, NGOs, Churches together with government agencies do the ground work, could bring solution for trafficking.

Atopu Sumi Addl S.P Longleng in his short speech on the theme emphasized that trafficking is a basket of crime, in Nagaland the traffickers do not realize their own deeds like they promise to provide food and education to the innocent child by handing them over to some rich people and in return they charge fees for the children. The district administration, converging departments along with local bodies, should take a survey in villages, awareness programme etc, can end such crimes in our society, he said. He also emphasized on two actions under police department for such crime, namely, direct action and indirect action.

The programme was chaired by Tutinungla Phom, district coordinator (MSK). Keynote address was given by Robhi Sangtam EAC HQ Longleng

P. Phungla Phom (WWO) MSK Longleng presented the winner for online essay competition for junior & senior category also online mother daughter photograph competition, winner in essay junior category: 1st- Leitong Phom. 2nd: Chingpang 3rd: Esapzeu, and senior category: 1st Longshom Phom, 2nd: Spvia Jenger and 3rd: Kontok Phom. Mother daughter photograph competition 1st: Atau Phom, 2nd: Shumei Phom and 3rd: Chuthei Phom. And lastly vote of thanks was pronounced by C. Henchmen Phom center Administration (OSC) Longleng.
