District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chumoukedima, convened the Quarterly meeting and Monsoon preparedness on 2nd May 2025 at the conference hall, Deputy Commissioner's Office, Chumoukedima.
During the meeting, DC, Chumoukedima, Polan John, NCS stated that the primary focus of the meeting was to assess and strengthen the district's preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season. He urged all the departments to know their role and responsibilities and be prepared for the monsoon. He stressed the importance of strict monitoring, effective planning and reminded those departments to submit their action plan for those who have not done so.
Nodal officer, DDMA, Rendemo briefed the gatherings on the Agenda items-Notification of Incident Response System (IRS); Preparation of the District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP); Formation of VDMA & Ward Disaster Management Authority; Identification of critical installations concerning Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) hazards and assessment of their Disaster Management (DM) plans/SOPs/Mock drill;
Identification and notification of Colony/Village ground or open spaces to be designated as Safe Zones for evacuation during emergencies-in times of disasters/ villages grounds; Identification of vendors for supply of rations and essential commodities during disaster emergencies--endorse work to CTC, MOU with vendors; Establishment of District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) and provision of HR to main the DEOC and suggestion to set up DEOC.
