In view of the upcoming State Assembly Election, Chief Electoral Officer's Office, Nagaland conducted a two-day Training Program for District Level Master Trainers (DLMTs) from 17th - 18th January 2023 at DC's Conference Hall Kohima.
At the inaugural speech, Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, V. Shashank Shekhar, IAS informed the Master Trainers that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has already visited the State for the upcoming Assembly Election and had categorically instructed the scrutiny of the election process and to endeavor for a free and fair poll with zero violence.
While briefing the Master Trainers, Shashank said that India is a Democratic country and the Election is the Heart of any democracy and that election is at the heart of any governance. He, therefore, urged the Master Trainers to ensure that thorough instructions and training are given to all the polling officials. The CEO also remarked that one small mistake can affect the entire election process and asked the officials to be very alert and careful and to minutely sensitize polling personnel in their respective districts and encourage them to co-operate fully with the district administration, police, sector officers, etc. for smooth flow of the election process. The CEO also requested the officials from newly created districts to bring up any required support to the CEO's office.
The DLMTs were divided into two batches, where the first batch comprising Pughoboto, Peren, Longleng, Kiphire, Dimapur, Zunheboto, Wokha, Phek, and Mokokchung were placed at DC's Conference Hall for the training, while Tseminyu, Noklak, Shamator, Chumukedima, Tuengsang, Kohima and Mon were placed at DPDB Hall, (District Planning Machinery) for the two-day training. The short programme was chaired by Assistant Election Officer Kohima, R. Toshimeren Aier. Joint CEO Sharon Longchari and SLMTs (State Level Master Trainers) also attended the program.
