Director, Land Resources, T. Renben Lotha, inaugurated Coffee Natural Nagas Cafe at Wokha on 17th August 2021.
Director, Renben Lotha in his address highlighted that Nagaland produces high quality coffee in comparison to normal coffee available in the market and it has become a popular drink resulting in high demand from other States of the country and different parts of the World.
He also encouraged the coffee farmers to put in more effort and also develop the coffee drinking culture and making it available not throughout the year.
Lotha said that the rich culture and tradition coffee can bring about change in the perception of image in Nagaland through various tourist aspects and attraction. He also laid a note that coffee plantation can be a part of nation building income generation.
He also highlighted the vision of Land Resources Department to promote coffee culture by following 3E’s- Employment, Environment and Economy. Currently, the department has signed an MoU with NOBLE CAUSE COFFEE COMPANY CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA for 30 years.
He also said that in collaboration with Coffee Board of India and Land Resources Government of Nagaland, coffee farmers are technically supported and supervised to promote coffee farming.
Deputy Director, Land Resources Nagaland, C. Vanchamo highlighted that majority of Nagaland geographic is micro climate conditions which is very suitable for coffee plantation and said that coffee plantation does not distinguish rich or poor and it can be cultivated by any class of society.
Proprietor Coffee Natural Nagas, Steve Odyuo acknowledged the department for their presence and stated that Coffee Natural Nagas will be a part of natural environment by way of conservation and management.
The programme was chaired by DPO, Land Resource Department, Wokha, Tepunol Yore. The programme was attended by Joint Director, Land Resources, Albert Ngullie, department officials and other dignitaries.
