Celebrating the theme “Igniting Cultural Traditions” a one-day Tribal festival was held at District Cultural office Complex, Mokokchung on 29th September 2022, organized by the District Cultural Office, Mkg, and Department of ART & Culture.

Exhorting the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS said India is a diverse country with varied cultures and traditions that can be counted as the strength and beauty of the country, in this line Nagaland has varied tribes with distinct cultural traditions. Acknowledging the initiatives taken by the Department to hold such an event, he said it measured up to recognizing the diverse traditional culture of the people and that performing arts are an asset to every community.

District Cultural Officer while delivering the welcome address said festivals are the time to bring social cohesion among the community along with communicating traditions to the younger generation to preserve its distinct identities.

The highlight of the programme includes cultural presentations by Associates for Performing Arts and Theatricals (APAT) Mokokchung, Aosungkum cultural Club, Mokokchung village, Sangpang, Shizung, Long, Changchaliba  Sayiba (Indigenous games demonstration), N.I Jamir GHSS- Benjongmong Tsungsang (Folk Dance), Mayangnokcha GHSS- folk dance, Watemdong Cultural Club Ungma village Indigenous game, Folk Tune (Alu Wadang Ken)- Imlinungchet & Akinaro and presentation of folk-Lore from  Lendongrenla & Aokonang Jamir.
