In the recent mortalities of Buffaloes from unspecified disease at Kangjan Village under Meluri Sub-division, Phek District, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services has conducted Laboratory test to specify the etiology of the disease from ELISA laboratory, Kohima. It was confirmed from the isolate that the etiology of the disease was a Gram negative, Coccobacilli, Bipolar organism called Pasteurellamultocida. Hence, the disease is confirmed to be HaemorrhagicSepticaemia (HS). Therefore, livestock owners have been requested to be vigilant and co-ordinate with the District office in the event of mortalities. Further, the CVO’s have been requested to initiate control and containment plan in co-ordination with Directorate office and ELISA Laboratory as sensitivity test has also been performed on the isolate.
